日本職棒12支球團代表11日在東京都內召開會議，會中針對兩聯盟交流戰的場次進行討論，決定明年球季的交流戰場次，減少到18場。

中央聯盟球隊一向不愛打交流賽，太平洋聯盟則是主張維持現狀，目前各隊一季是打24場交流賽。

明年開始的18場交流賽的賽制，與跨聯盟的對手只有會一組3連戰，隔年再交換主場。

日本職棒的交流戰2005年導入，一開始是主客場各3場，一年36場，從2007年起，最近8年都是主客場各兩場，一年打24場。
