石虎生態補償地 原地劃設不算數

苗栗縣政府規劃闢建台13線三義外環道，動保界憂心瀕臨絕種的石虎恐無立錐之地。縣方提議購買20公頃林地作為石虎生態補償地，農委會表示，若在原棲地劃設，不能算數。

農委會林務局保育組組長管立豪說，學界估算石虎全國約剩500隻，但實際數字因為石虎避人，有數位照相術之前，難拍到行蹤，因此確切估測數字尚無，只知委託調查時，只在苗栗與南投出現過蹤影，但主要棲地仍是苗栗，生活於海拔800公尺以下。

他補充，石虎是食肉目的豹貓，因為會吃雞，人會設捕獸夾等陷阱防範，加上環境開發，使得石虎數量銳減；今年農委會特生中心已開始調查南投的石虎生態，今年應該會有南投的石虎生態數字出爐，苗栗方面，民國96到98年委託學者調查過，但未估測數量。
