為了高鐵財改案受阻，葉匡時在7日晚間宣布請辭交通部長一職，府院全力慰留，行政院長毛治國今(9)晚再度與葉懇談，但葉辭意甚堅，毛治國最後同意葉匡時的請辭。

行政院發言人孫立群表示，毛治國今天晚間與交通部長葉匡時再度懇談後，勉予同意葉部長請辭。

毛治國肯定葉匡時此段期間戮力推動高鐵財務改革案，但遭外界誤解而未成，至表惋惜。

對於葉匡時選擇為政策負責的風骨，毛治國表示高度肯定，並感謝此段期間葉部長帶領交通部同仁，共同推動各項交通政務辛勞。

孫立群說，交通部長的職缺將由政務次長陳建宇代理。
