天使1日與金鶯三連戰的最後一役，「生化人」普侯斯(Albert Pujols)展現韌性；即使開賽前兩次連續擊出雙殺打，這位34歲強打13局上還是用棒子證明「薑是老的辣」，打出致勝安敲回天使第1分，也是全場唯一1分，助天使1比0險勝金鶯。

開賽前2次打席擊出雙殺打，11局上的強勁滾地球又被金鶯三壘手馬查多( Manny Machado)攔下遭到刺殺出局的普侯斯，在關鍵時刻顯然仍是球隊的一把利刃，助球隊免於橫掃。

「這就是普侯斯，他總是持續地攻擊」天使隊總教練索西亞(Mike Scioscia)賽後說道，「即使馬查多的防守就像魔術師一般，將他的安打沒收，他還是持續攻擊，並打出出穿越中間方向的安打。」

此役雙方鏖戰至12局仍是戰況膠著，直到13局上才有得分攻勢，天使靠著卡爾洪(Kole Calhoun)保送上壘，楚特(Mike Trout)緊接著敲出安打，形成1、3壘有人無人出局，普侯斯此時敲出中外野方向的致勝安打，也敲回全場的唯一1分，讓人看見他關鍵時刻的打擊能力。

對金鶯來說，這已是連續第6場勝分在1分差內的比賽，其中還有4場是在延長賽，金鶯拿下4勝2敗，目前仍以60勝47負穩居美聯東區龍頭。
