京都大學靈長類研究所教授高田昌彥發布消息稱，在日本猴當中發現世界首例與真實年齡相比，快速老化的『早衰症』猴子。

中新網據日本媒體報導，靈長類動物中，除人類以外，至今還未發現其他『早衰症』案例。高田表示，查明其中的原因，將有助於研究早衰。

京都大學靈長類研究所表示，日本猴一般從25歲開始進入老年，能活到40歲左右。但是，這隻2010年5月出生的雌猴，在生後8個月的幼猴階段臉部等各處均出現了皺紋。

通常要在20歲以後才會患的白內障，在其生後10個月便發現了。研究所還確認這隻猴子在1歲4個月的時候腦出現萎縮，2歲的時候有糖尿病傾向。

研究所稱，這些症狀與人類的早衰非常相似。人類的早衰症可追及至6個致病基因，但是這隻猴子處了這6個致命基因外，與老化相關的其他16個遺傳因數並未出現異常。這隻猴子已經於2013年7月，也就是牠3歲2個月的時候因消化器官方面的病症而死。
