對大多數人來說，巨蟒都給人一種畏懼感。但居住在菲律賓的蘇格蘭男子伊恩·麥克萊恩(Ian Maclean)認為，緬甸巨蟒卻可以治愈其手臂上的陳年舊傷。

國際在線據英國《每日郵報》報導，麥克萊恩藉用菲律賓一家動物園的4條緬甸巨蟒幫其治療手臂舊傷。他說：『一個老朋友告訴我，巨蟒按摩對我的舊傷有好處。4條緬甸巨蟒成了我的按摩師。實際上，巨蟒的蠕動動作令人感到愉悅，只是它們吞吐的舌頭碰到皮膚時讓人感覺有點兒不舒服。』

麥克萊恩還說：『當4條巨蟒壓在我身上時，它們的重量超過250公斤，因此我根本起不來。但不要驚慌，我會放鬆身體，祈禱自己所有罪過可以被原諒。』

巨蟒按摩正在亞洲興起，據說蟒蛇的滑動可以令人因恐懼而加速產生腎上腺素，而腎上腺素對人的新陳代謝有積極作用。
